I haven’t posted in a long time…but I think its time to get back into it. I have just started my 2nd year of university and this is my first project of the year.
The brief was to create a public service announcement relating to “you are what you eat”. I often hear people saying that anorexia is just one of those “silly diets” for this project I want to show that its more than that and that it is a serious illness. My models hold a brain in their hands to symbolise that anorexia is one of the biggest killer of any mental illness in the UK, photographed next to their small waists to symbolise an eating disorder. I have photographed these images in a dark tone to give more emotion to the images as a mental illness is is something that is not bright and colourful.
Today I have handed in my first university project. I must say That I am really happy with the images that I have created.
I focused on Love as a subject, as the brief I was given was “relationship”. In these images, I have used my self and my other half, I had the opportunity to capture our love and how we care for each other in an image. I have captured this before in selfies where we are happy with smiles and laughter. but in these images, I have captured our love as an art.
I am currently doing my first University Project. The first project we have been given is Relationship. For my first set of photos, I have decided to focus on my relationship with my body.
I have captured these images showing the struggle that society has put on me.
As a woman, it is hard to learn to love your body as society constantly tells you should look like “this”, and once you have become what society wants you to be.. it changes again. but what I have recently learnt is that you shouldn’t care what other people think, your body is beautiful no matter the shape and size. as long as if you’re healthy it doesn’t matter, You don’t need to base your weight goal, on these images
Its my 4th week of my final project in foundation Art. For my Final project I am woking with nature as a subject. and each week I use a different form of Photography
All these Images are taken on my mobile phone. I hate using my mobile to take images as I just don’t feel comfortable using it as I have a High quality camera and I feel more commutable using my canon so I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and use my mobile to take some interesting shots.
In these Images I have used a micrascope capturing Leaves and flower petals. I like the veins I have captured on the petals and leafs. I wanted to focus on something that we never really notice showing the beauty and the details that these plants have and we do not give them the respect they deserve as they are powerful and beautiful.
A Cyanotypes is a photographic printing process and these images are made without a camera. the paper for this process is dipped into chemicals which react to UV light. I placed the flowers on top of paper and then placed them under the UV lamp for 3 minuets. when the paper is removed from underneath the UV lamp the area that has been exposed to light is a grey colour and the area which has not been exposed to light is a yellow colour which is the chemicals that haven’t been exposed to light. what is interesting about Cyanotypes it can be placed under the uv lamp again if you want to add more detail to where you placed the objects so a laced piece of fabric would work really well to add more detail. once your print is ready it is placed into water to wash off the yellow chemical. this the makes the print no longer sensitive to UV light.
and this is the end result
I have now started my final project in foundation art. For my Final project I am woking with nature as a subject. each week I will be working with a different form of photography.
here I have created Cyanotypes. this was my first time on creating Cyanotypes and this is one of my new favourite forms of photography as it is so simple but yet it creates a stunning interesting image just like my love for photograms. what I like about Cyanotypes more is that you don’t need a Dark room and it is much more healthier for the environment, as I can use the Sun light to develop the Cyanotypes. but for these images I used a UV Lamp as it is much more quicker process
A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera. which is created in a photographic dark room. I placed the flowers on top of Light sensitive papper and then shined a light on-to the paper for 4 seconds. the paper is then placed into chemicals to make the image appear and to make it no longer sensitive to light.
and this is the end result

As my current subject is nature I have worked with flowers. I like the effect the flowers petals have created as the light has leaked through them.
I lived in Blaenau ffestiniog in the summer of 2016 for work. I actually thought the town was quit boring apart from the Zip World site and the Down hill biking centre. it constantly rains in Blaenau ffestiniog, so it always looks quite gloomy there apart from when it snows and all the slate is covered in beautiful white powder.
I now do not live in Blaenau ffestiniog and I had always seen some beautiful images of the mountain and some beautiful walks that are in Blaenau ffestiniog. I went back to visit the town to take some photographs for my next college project and I was taken up into the queries in Tan-y-Grisiau where I found this beautiful landscape and old slate buildings. I did not get to spend much time taking images up there but I cant wait to go back and visit and take some more photographs (maybe in some better weather)
I have captured my self in a rainy landscape to emphasise a bad Dream, as I live in North Wales where the rain never stops, creating a gloomy, moody atmosphere and I wanted to capture how hard it can be to be joyful in such a cold, wet, cloudy, landscape. I am representing defeat with my body language in these images, and the struggle to raise my head, and to not be staring at the muddy ground, I am often told to stop daydreaming. I am just in my own world. Trying to forget about the rain, trying to daydream about the blue sky and green fields and not cold, wet, grey clouds. and this is just a dream, Once I raise my head I can see the rain fading away and that this storm won’t last forever. I can’t admit to defeat doesn’t matter how lonely or lost I feel there is always some sunshine in North Wales. this is just a dream.
In this project I have decided to look into the detail of skin as there are many different textures on one personas body and there is so much detail. This time I have focused on my own skin, the freckles on my neck and jaw, and the detail on my lips and my hands and ears and wrist as they all tell a personal story about me. this is what makes me an unique person.
